River Walk

WHEELING AVENUE CANTILEVER WALKWAY IS OPEN!!!
The High Street Bridge spills north onto four-lanes of newly paved Wheeling Avenue, which supports anewly constructedcantilevered walkway thatoverlooksthe White River. The "River Walk Project," better known as the Wheeling Avenue Cantilever Walkway,has just been completed, opening ahead of schedule andin time for the city's annual July 4th Celebrate the City fireworks celebration.

Theoriginal completion date for construction of the Cantilever Walkwaywas expected to be August 2007. An offical "Opening Ceremony" to celebrate the completion of the walkway is being planned in August. Watch for more details regarding the ceremony to be made public at a later date.

Traveling southbound on North Wheeling Avenue, approaching the heart of downtown Muncie through such a beautiful gateway is an awesome and delightful sightseeingexperience for citizens and visitors alike. Walking or riding, taking in the view of the riverbend, damand surroundingsceneryis a most enjoyableexperience. If you haven't partaken yet, you should try it; we highly recommend it.
