About the Committee

The Civilian Review Committee of the Muncie Human Rights Commission exists to promote just relationships between police and civilians. Toward this end, we will review complaints in regard to the MPD on behalf of the MHRC. We are a diverse non-partisan group of thirteen local citizens from many sectors of society and are therefore able to offer a broad perspective. We seek to protect police officers from unfair or inaccurate accusations and protect citizens from unethical treatment. We hope to facilitate an open line of communication between police and citizens.

Members

At least 1/3 of the members of the Committee must be persons of color. At least 1 member of the Committee must identify as having a disability. Committee members must be residents of Delaware County. Geographic diversity of Committee members’ homes is strongly recommended.
